BISWANATH: A daylight robbery has taken place again in the Biswanath Chariali region of the state. The incident took place in the Nabapur locality of Biswanth Chariali. The robbers broke into the premises of Probin Saikia and stole all valuable things. The owner, who is a businessman by profession mentioned that the robbery took place during the day when no one was at home.

According to the owner, the robbers took around Rs 1.5 lakhs in cash and around 7-8 tola of gold. A large number of important items including documents were also stolen by the robbers.

A team from the Biswanath Chariali Sadar Police Station arrived at the location of the robbery and took stock of the situation. They also registered a case regarding the incident and proceeded with the necessary investigation.

A few days back, an operation was carried out by Gohpur Police, leading to the seizure of Rs 6 lakh and 60 thousand in cash along with counterfeit gold. The police team also arrested four people in relation to the incident. The four accused who were arrested have been identified as Anowara Begum, Nazmul Haque, Nazrina Begum and Abdul Munnas. The fake gold was recovered by the police team from Anowara Begum while the cash was recovered from Abdul Munnas. The operation was carried out based on precious inputs as a part of the campaign by Assam Police against crime. Addressing a press meet today, the Director General of Police for Assam promised to eliminate the problems of counterfeit gold and fake currency in the state within a month's time.

One day before this operation was carried out by police, an incident of robbery took place in the heart of Biswanath town. Robberies took place in the Kuchgaon of Biswanath where two houses were sacked by the robbers. The incident took place in the accommodations rented out by Bipul Bhuyan which is located behind the LIC office in Biswanath. But the important point is that the robberies took place at around 11 AM during the day.
