LAKHIMPUR: The cultural fraternity of the State as well as the people of the Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district have expressed sorrow at the untimely demise of vocal artiste, actor Trailukya Sonowal.
He breathed his last in the early morning on Thursday at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. He was 44. On Wednesday, Sonowal was admitted at Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) as his health condition deteriorated suddenly. Later, he was shifted to AMCH for advanced treatment. He was the permanent resident of Rajkhowa Gaon under Panigaon Police Station of Lakhimpur district. He involved with cultural activities since his childhood. He served as the cultural secretary of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), and was potent enough to bag the best actor title of the college several years. Later, braving all odds caused by pecuniary difficulties, Sonowal established himself as a vocal artiste and a actor. He earned popularity across the State as a parody singer and a unique comedy actor. He produced score of parody albums and comedy VCDs which people adorned across the State. He was the associate producer of Lakhimi Theatre which emerged from Lakhimpur.
A large number of his fans and followers paid him last tribute when the body reached home. Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha, Lakhimpur Zila Sangbadik Sanskritik Mancha, Mising Agom Kebang, All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students’ Union, Rajkhowa Gaon Suruj Sangha, Bahpati Suruj Sanskritik Sangha, Nabajyoti Ranga Mancha and many other institutions and individuals expressed condolence at his demise. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter along with a host of relatives.
