Assam: Demow gears up to celebrate Diwali

DEMOW: The people of Demow and its surrounding areas are all set to celebrate Diwali on Sunday and Monday. Hari Narayan Kumar family have prepared 80,000 earthen lamps this time. Talking to this correspondent on Saturday evening a family member of Hari Narayan Kumar said that Hari Narayan Kumar family is the oldest in pottery business in Demow and they have crossed 100 years in this profession. He said their preparation for earthen lamps has started from last one and a half months and their earthen lamps were sold in the nearby villages and Sivasagar. He said the rate of the earthen lamps is same like previous years but the rates of the products which were used to make the earthen lamps were increased. He said that 5 family members of the Hari Narayan Kumar were engaged in doing all the works require to make the earthen lamps. There will be two Kali Puja in Demow town this time. The decorations of the pandals were almost complete. The Kali idols will be brought to the pandals in Demow on Sunday.
