Assam: DHSK College celebrates 77th Independence Day with enthusiasm

DIBRUGARH: DHSK College joined the nation in commemorating the 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The college campus came alive with patriotic melodies and vibrant decorations, setting the tone for the festive occasion. The event garnered an impressive turnout, with students, faculty, staff, esteemed guests, and community members in attendance.

The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by the College Principal, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia. Dr Saikia conveyed his delight at the participation and emphasized the significance of unity, harmony, hard work, and progress in fostering a peaceful society. The event was enriched by stirring renditions of patriotic songs performed by both teachers and students, underscoring the spirit of patriotism.

In a heartfelt gesture, teachers who had dedicated 25 years of service were acknowledged for their invaluable contributions to education and knowledge dissemination. DHSK College, fondly referred to as Kanoi College, has been a cornerstone of higher education since its establishment in 1945, playing a pivotal role in nurturing academic growth, including the establishment of Dibrugarh University.

The ceremony extended its accolades to several distinguished individuals, including members of the Green Club and eminent local figures in education, culture, and literature. Noteworthy among them were Pranab Markari, Bikash Gogoi, Jadav Gogoi, Lalit Sharmah and Bhusan Jyoti Handique.

As a symbol of environmental consciousness, the event featured the planting of tree saplings by a special guest, further underscoring the college’s commitment to sustainability. The evening concluded with captivating cultural performances that showcased the rich diversity of talent among the students.
