Assam DIG Violet Baruah to Receive President's Police Medal on Republic Day

GUWAHATI: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kokrajhar, Assam, Violet Baruah has been selected for the President's Police Medal for distinguished service.

She will be receiving the medal on 26th January, on the occasion of Republic Day.

Taking to her social media handle the ace police officer wrote, "I am so happy and honoured to have received this prestigious President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Thank you all for your blessings."

Further, 13 police personnel of Assam Police will be awarded the police medals for their meritorious service.

The awardees are -

1. Musleh Uddin Ahmed, Commandant of 22 AP (IR) Battalion, Likabali, Dhemaji

2. Amrit Bhuyan, Superintendent of Police, Darrang, Assam

3. Debashish Sharma, Principal of Police Training College, Dergaon, Golaghat.

4. Sushanta Biswa Sarma, Superintendent of Police, Goalpara

5. Dipak Bora, Inspector of Police, Golaghat

6. Imam Uddin Choudhury, Sub-Inspector, Cachar, Silchar

7. Dimbo Ram Terang, Sub-Inspector of Police, Guwahati

8. Niranjan Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Cachar

9. Anwar Hussain Borbhuyan, Naik, Cachar

10. Pankaj Mahanta, Constable (UB), Guwahati

11. Jitendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Constable (UB), Guwahati

12. Hemen Das, Constable (UB), Guwahati

13. Anil Rajbongshi, Constable (UB), Kokrajhar.

Taking to the Twitter handle GP Singh, ADGP L&O, wrote, "Congratulations to the @assampolice officers who have been awarded the medals on the occasion of the Republic Day 2021."

It is to be mentioned Violet Baruah became the of DIG (BTAD), Kokrajhar after the Centre inked the Bodo Peace Accord with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on January 27th, 2020. She was posted as the new DIG as per the provisions of the accord.

Meanwhile, congratulating all the officers and personnel for being selected for the awards, Assam Police tweeted, "Heartiest Congratulations to all the Officers & Personnel of Assam Police on being awarded the President's Police Medal For Distinguished Service & Police Medal for Meritorious Service, on the occasion of #RepublicDay2021 Your exemplary service & commitment deserves high praise."
