Assam: District Road Safety Committee meeting held in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: An important meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRS) chaired by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Vikram Kairi was held on Wednesday in the video conference room of the district commissioner’s office. At the meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, Deputy Commissioner Vikram Kairi took stock of the road accidents that have taken place in the district in detail in the last few months. The District Commissioner stressed on the need to inspect the roads in which accidents take place frequently in the district and to take stock of the exact cause of the accidents.

The District Commissioner directed the police and transport department to be more proactive in preventing road accidents and reducing the number of road accident deaths across the district. It also directed the concerned department to strictly enforce the traffic laws across the district and not to exempt violators of the guidelines of the Motor Vehicles Act in any way.

It also directed the district transport department to cancel the licences of those overspeeding irresponsibly. On the other hand, drunk drivers, traffic violations till January 26 should be checked.
