SILCHAR: Silchar police launched an anti drug operation and seized huge quantity of Yaba tablets coming from Manipur. At least 50 thousand Yaba tablets were recovered from two persons at Kashipur in Lakhipur constituency on Sunday.

Meanwhile, keeping in tune with the Drugs Destruction Day, Cachar police on Monday burnt narcotic substances worth a staggering Rs 150 crore. The destruction was done at a brick quarry in Srikona near Silchar town. These huge quantity of drugs had been seized during various raids in the district by the police. The confiscated contraband which was burnt by police included 3.302 kg of heorin, 1,473,765 Yaba tablets, 212.951 kgs of marijuana and 3,729 bottles of cough syrup.
