BOKAJAN: In a significant development in the run up to Independence Day, a successful anti-drug operation was conducted based on confidential information received by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) for Security, Karbi Anglong, with cooperation of Officer-in-Charge of Bokajan and Khatkhati Police Station and the Central Reserve Police Force (C20 CRPF) from Bokajan. The operation was carried out at Janakpukhuri, situated under Khatkhati Police Station along Assam-Nagaland interstate border in Karbi Anglong on Tuesday.
During the meticulously executed operation, the police team managed to recover a substantial amount of drugs. A total of 45 soap boxes containing approximately 566 grams of heroin was recovered from a Gypsy car bearing registration number NL 07 CC 0629 which was intercepted and searched as part of the raid. The value of the seized drugs is reported to be over Rs 3 crore in the black market.
The joint effort also led to the apprehension of two individuals identified as Siivicho John Thro (30) and Rapu Elea (24). Both are resident of Senapati, Manipur. Both individuals have been taken into custody and further interrogation are on regarding their roles in the drug trafficking.
