Like every year, Durga Puja was celebrated with joy, pomp and gaiety in Dhubri, Gauripur, Golokganj, Chapar, Bilasipada, Golakganj, Mahamaya, Bagribari, Bahalpur, Choibari, Krishnakali, Chapar Tea Garden, Shalkocha, etc.

DHUBRI:Like every year, Durga Puja was celebrated with joy, pomp and gaiety in Dhubri, Gauripur, Golokganj, Chapar, Bilasipada, Golakganj, Mahamaya, Bagribari, Bahalpur, Choibari, Krishnakali, Chapar Tea Garden, Shalkocha, etc.

This time, Puja was celebrated in 386 puja pandals across the Dhubri district and immersion of idols in the river was carried till late night on Tuesday. However, as per tradition, immersion was done on Wednesday in Golokganj. According to the tradition of the Zamindars of the Golokganj area, immersion is done on the day after Dashami.

After the completion of the puja at places like Chapar, Bilasipara, Bahalpur etc., on Tuesday, the idol of Goddess Durga was immersed smoothly in the rivers Brahmaputra, Gaurang, Godadhar, Tipkai, Champavati etc. of the district.

Durgabari Puja in Chapor town celebrated the 125th year of Durga Puja. A huge number of devotees and puja revellers thronged pandals in Dhubri, Gauripur, Chapar and Bilasipara due to the attractive theme-based Puja.
