BISWANATH CHARIALI: State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu met the families of deceased contractual teachers Debajit Sharma of Howajan and Debajit Kakati of Dakhin Kalabari on Sunday and expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families.

The two contractual teachers died in a road accident while they were on their way to their homes from the Chaiduar Education Block Office, Gohpur in Biswanath district recently. Devajit Kakati was working as Block Resource Person (BRP) and Debajit Sharma as Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) under Chaiduar Education Block, Gohpur. The minister interacted with the family members and assured them all possible help.

Later talking to media persons, Dr Pegu said that an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each would be given to the families. Besides other benefits would also be provided as per government policies. Rs 2 lakh each would be given to them under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and a proposal has already been submitted to the government by the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, he added. The transfer of Kakati's wife, who is also a teacher in the Lakhimpur district, to a nearby place will be considered.

Minister Dr Pegu was accompanied by Munindra Nath Ngatey, Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath, Dr Surya Kamal Borah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education), Dipam Barman, Additional Deputy Commissioner and SDO (C)-in-Charge, Gohpur and others.
