GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in Assam's Guwahati city, a lift of a multistorey building suddenly collapsed and drops down on the ground with several people onboard.

The incident took place on Thursday 3rd March as an elevator fell down in Chatribari at a commercial complex named G.S Towers. The elevator fell down from the second floor of the building.

According to reports the lift had several people inside when it dropped down. It is assumed that the incident occurred because of some technical malfunctioning.

However, it is reported that the left was overloaded at the time when it collapsed. There were 10 people on board instead of the maximum number of people that a lift must carry i.e. six.

As per sources the people inside the elevator also includes children when the horrific incident happened. All ten people moving in the elevator suffered injuries following the sudden mishap and no casualty has been reported.

Locals informed that the injured people include footballers who used to practice on the top floor of the same commercial building of G.S Towers. It is said that the building has the first Rooftop Football Coaching Centre in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, concerned officials are informed and rescue measures are carried out and the trapped people are brought outside.

The injured ones are taken to hospital and further investigation for the cause of the incident has been initiated.

The locals of the area alleged that the management is occupying the space in an inappropriate manner for operating a football coaching centre.

They further alleged that the managing authority has been running such an important spots centre without proper safety measures.

However, the building authority has not yet made any official statement regarding the entire incident.
