Assam: Farm animal health camp held in North Lakhimpur

The Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science (LCVSc) under Assam Agricultural University located at Joyhing, North Lakhimpur, and the State Veterinary Dispensary of Panigaon, North Lakhimpur, organized a vaccination and treatment camp on Wednesday aiming at improving the well-being of farm animals of the nearby areas.

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science (LCVSc) under Assam Agricultural University located at Joyhing, North Lakhimpur, and the State Veterinary Dispensary of Panigaon, North Lakhimpur, organized a vaccination and treatment camp on Wednesday aiming at improving the well-being of farm animals of the nearby areas. The camp was orchestrated by Dr. Sanjib Borah, an Assistant Professor at LCVSc, and supported by World Animal Protection, India. Gajender Kumar Sharma, Country Director, World Animal Protection India expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Uma Ram Tamuli, the Associate Dean, and the entire team involved in the initiative. He appealed everyone to support such initiatives and bring change in the lives of animals by motivating people to move the world to protect animals.

During this event, the camp witnessed over 600 livestock from the surrounding areas; cattle and goats being vaccinated for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). Additionally, treatment was provided to ailing animals, and free supplements (Anthelmintic, Mineral & supplements) were distributed. The camp drew the participation of 25 students, as well as specialists from various departments from the college. Dr. Sanjib Mahanta, the Veterinary Officer at the Veterinary Dispensary in Panigaon, North Lakhimpur, and Dr. Irine Hazarika, a Mobile Veterinary Officer in Lakhimpur, along with their staff, played a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of the camp.
