LAKHIMPUR: NHPC has contributed a fund of Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to combat the devastating flood in the State. AK Singh, the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday in Guwahati and presented the cheque in this regard. On this occasion, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah and Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka were also present.

During the event of presenting the cheque, the progress of the construction of 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP) was also reviewed. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wished for the completion of the SLHP at the earliest. He said that the State Government would extend all possible support for the commissioning of the project.

The Chief Minister and the CMD of NHPC also discussed about the development of hydroelectric and solar power in Assam, including pump storage hydro plants and floating solar parks, stated a press release.
