Assam floods: Vast areas of Guijan submerged

TINSUKIA: Fresh wave of flood by Dibru River has inundated vast areas of Guijan, submerging schools, market, police station, forest range office of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, besides dwelling houses and part of Rungagora TE and nearby areas like Natun Gaon, Nutan Rangagora, Khamti Guwali and Gotong, Nalani TE. The Baghjan blowout-affected people who were sheltered at Guijan High School have been shifted to Padumoni LP School, Padumoni newly-constructed hospital building and other highland institutions. The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Bhaskar Pegu and Saroj Gohain, president Tinsukia Press Club, have been supervising relief and rescue operations.
