Assam: Food bank inaugurated in Paglasthan of Bongaigaon town

BONGAIGAON: East Story and Bongaigaon district police has launched the district’s first food bank near Police point, Paglasthan of Bongaigaon town.This food bank, a community project of East Story and Bongaigaon police was inaugurated by Swapnaneel Deka, Superintendent of Police, Bongaigaon district.

The food bank has 6 racks to store food items. As stated by Abhideep Choudhury from East Story, people can donate their excess food here in the bank from which, a needy one can collect it themselves. “A record book is kept to get details of the donor. East Story will regularly check food and after 2 days of deposition of cooked food, if it is not taken by anybody, will be distributed among poor people,” he stated.
