GUWAHATI: A special team from the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, caught Forest Ranger Debabrata Gogoi of Lakshipur, Cachar District while taking bribe.

It may be mentioned that on seeing the officials the Ranger ran away from his chamber along with bribe money and was later caught at a distance of about 1 km from the Range Office after a hot chase.

Taking to the Twitter handle Assam to cop GP Singh wrote, "Our fight against corruption continues. Today, a team from @DIR_VAC_ASSAM caught red-handed the Forest Range Officer, Lakhipur. Shri Debabrata Gogoi Cachar district with accepted bribe money."

 Earlier, the Assam Police has urged citizens of the state to report any kind of monetary demands made by government employees and have also issued two helpline numbers in this regard.

This was announced by Special Director General of Police (DGP) Law and Order, GP Singh on Friday. Citizens have been asked to report bribery cases at the helpline numbers: 0361-2462295 and 1800-3453767.
