GUWAHATI: In a series of breakthrough operations, the Assam Police successfully apprehended multiple gangs of dacoits involved in a spate of robberies in different districts of Assam. These operations were conducted based on intelligence inputs, highlighting the police's effectiveness in tackling organized crime.

One such operation took place in Nagaon, where the police, acting on intelligence information, chased and captured a four-member gang of dacoits in Rupahihat. The dacoits, aware of the police presence, attempted to escape by firing at them. However, the police swiftly responded, maintaining public safety without any injuries. Even when the dacoits tried to flee by swimming in a nearby water body, the police pursued them and successfully apprehended the entire gang. The arrested dacoits were identified as Aashiqul Khan, Nazmul Haque, Mojibur Rahman, and another individual named Nazmul Haque.

Another remarkable operation was conducted in the Karimganj district, resulting in the arrest of a six-member gang of dacoits. The police apprehended them in Ratabari and Kaliganj, seizing significant evidence from their possession. The seized items included a handmade pistol, four live cartridges, and various objectionable materials. The arrested individuals were identified as Tasruf Ali, Asabuddin, Manir Ali, Nurul Haque, Khairul Islam, and Abdul Latif. It was revealed that these individuals were involved in several dacoity-related incidents, posing a serious threat to public safety.

These successful operations follow the arrest of a five-member gang of dacoits in Karimganj the previous month. Acting on specific information about their presence, the Karimganj Police launched a massive operation, effectively closing all entrance gates to the targeted area. The police seized a considerable cache of illegal arms and ammunition, including firearms, rounds of ammunition, hand-made guns, and pistols. The arrested dacoits were identified as Abdul Latif, Moinul Haque, Monir Uddin, Zamir Uddin, and Halim Uddin. Prior intelligence suggested that this gang was planning a major robbery, further highlighting the police's proactive approach in curbing criminal activities.

The Assam Police's relentless efforts to combat dacoity and organized crime have yielded fruitful results, ensuring the safety and security of the state's residents. The successful operations demonstrate their proficiency in acting on intelligence inputs and effectively apprehending criminal elements. By seizing firearms and ammunition, the police have not only disrupted the activities of these dacoit gangs but also prevented potential harm to innocent civilians. The arrests send a strong message to criminals that Assam Police is determined to maintain law and order, making the state a safer place for its residents.

The arrested dacoits were identified as Abdul Latif, Moinul Haque, Monir Uddin, Zamir Uddin and Halim Uddin. Sources said that the police received prior information that the group of dacoits were up to a major robbery.
