A few days back, the Excise Department started an operation in the Barpeta district against illegal liquor businesses which has been going on in the entire district for a long period. As per orders from the departmental minister, the Excise department has started the operation and seized illegal liquor from different places. On Friday, the Judicial Magistrate of Barpeta district Pritam Thakuriya, Excise Superintendent Manasjyoti Das, Excise Inspector ( Sadar), Barpeta Tapan Ch Kalita and a group of police and Excise workers seized a huge amount of illicit liquor at Damradowa village in Barpeta district. The women of that place prevented the police team and attacked the police and excise force.
