The freshman social of Gaurisagar Senior Secondary School was held on Wednesday. The day-long programme started with hoisting of flag by Rupjyoti Nath, principal of the school, followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Diganta Nath, president of Gaurisagar Academy.

GAURISAGAR: The freshman social of Gaurisagar Senior Secondary School was held on Wednesday. The day-long programme started with hoisting of flag by Rupjyoti Nath, principal of the school, followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Diganta Nath, president of Gaurisagar Academy. Later, Nabojyoti Ojah, journalist, unveiled the wall magazine ‘Shrutaswati’.

On the other hand, the wall magazine of the Geography department ‘Dharitri’ was released by Rupjyoti Nath. Thereafter, an open session was held. Binuwa Taye, central executive member of Axam Xahitya Xabha graced the function as chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Taye urged upon the student community to study sincerely for their better future. In the function, Robin Hazarika, former headmaster, Khanamukh Girls’ High School, unveiled the handwritten magazine of the school ‘Pragyadeep’.

In the function, Muhi Kanta Nath, former principal of the school, Robin Chandra Hazarika, founder president of Gaurisagar Academy, Prabitra Dutta, Vice Principal of Dikhowmukh College, noted social activist Hiren Dutta and others were present. Three meritorious students of the school, namely Kalyani Nath, Subhashree Nath and Aditi Nath were warmly felicitated by the college fraternity for passing the HS examination, 2023 with flying colours.

Chandra Kamal Hazarika, secretary of School Managing Committee, gave financial assistance to three meritorious students, along with Princhi Priya Devi who obtained the highest mark in Geography in the HS examination, 2023. Besides, five teachers of the school- Pallabi Borah, Ritumoni Hondique, Heppymoni Buragohain, Pranjal Borah and Pankaj Borah were felicitated. In the evening, students performed various cultural programmes.
