Assam: Frustrated over inaction, Teok residents gherao office of Revenue Circle Officer

Since 1983, as many as 500 families have been evicted several times due to floods and erosion. They have been forced to live on embankments. The government has failed to take any step to rehabilitate or settle them properly.

Now, peeved at the apathetic attitude of the local administration, the affected people staged the protest hoping that this time ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, the administration would do something about their condition.
