GUWAHATI: A proud moment for Assam, as filmmaker Gautam Bora’s movie has paved its way to the Berlin International Film Festival. Bora’s student film, Ein Herbst im Ländchen Bärwalde is scheduled to be screened at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
Notably, Bora produced the movie during his time as an international student at the Film and Television University in Babelsberg (HFF).
Filmmaker Utpal Barpujari tweeted regarding the same and wrote, ‘Goutam Bora’s 1983 student film will be screened in @berlinale’s Forum section as part of a package of 3 specially-restored films made by students of East Germany film school HFF. His Wosobipo was screened in Berlinale 1990.’
Goutam’s Ein Herbst im Ländchen Bärwalde demonstrates a season which was of great significance for agriculture. The film showcases day to day life structure in East Germany in a manner which is fit for television and with a clear focus. Bora was born in Guwahati, in the year 1953. Later, he shifted in Europe in the year 1976 and 1983.
He carried on with pursuing film direction at the HFF Potsdam Babelsberg. A piece of his work, where he also acted was screened at the Berlinale Forum of 1991. The name of the film was Wosobipo. Gautam Bora is well known for his work Dil Se which was released in the year 1998.
He directed few classic movies including Old Man River in 2012, The Cuckoo’s Call in 1991 and Ein Herbst im Ländchen Bärwalde in 1983. Bora’s work pieces has always been appreciated by the audiences and he has been recognised for the same.
Recently, a woman cricketer of Assam made the state proud after getting selected in the auction of Women’s Premier League. The cricketer has been sold in Rs 10 lakh to the Mumbai Indians (MI). This is the first ever edition of women cricket tournament in India, and Assam’s Jintimani Kalita has made everyone proud with her achievement.
