LAKHIMPUR: The general meeting of the Lakhimpur district unit of the Bihu Kristi Parishad was held on Sunday at the auditorium of Lakhimpur Town High School. The meeting was chaired by President Kamal Borah, while the objective of the meeting was explained by Secretary Lakhinath Dutta. He also elaborated on the activities and upcoming agenda of the organization. In the meeting, noted Bihu exponent and writer Dr. Amarendra Gogoi was felicitated for his achievement of winning Bihu Pragya Bota. The felicitation programme was held under the management of working president Prasanna Sarma, secretary Lakhinath Dutta, and member Dipa Das Hazarika. In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held to chalk out plans for the smooth conduct of the executive body meeting of the State Committee of the Bihu Kristi Parishad to be held in Lakhimpur in the month of November. In this connection, a reception committee was formed, with Keshab Borthakur as president and Manoj Kalita as secretary.

Keshav Borthakur, Khiren Burhagohain, and Mohan Kumar Das attended the meeting as special guests. In the same event, many cultural workers in the district took membership in the Bihu Kristi Parishad by registering themselves through the Lakhimpur unit of the organization. “The spontaneous presence of many people of the district in the meeting and their cooperation towards the Lakhimpur district unit of Bihu Kristi Parishad has encouraged the organization to carry on its efforts to enhance the cultural field of the district by focusing on its aims and objectives, ideology, and values,”, stated Manasjyoti Kakati, the spokesperson of the organization.
