GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has given approval for the establishment of 21 new Sainik Schools in different states of India.

The new Sainik Schools will be set up in collaboration with various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), private schools and state governments.

Assam is also added to the list of states to get new Sainik Schools and according to the Defence Ministry, the new school in Assam will be set up in the Cachar district in Barak Valley.

These 21 upcoming Sainik schools is various states like Assam, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Kerala among others will be built in the first round of the Indian government initiative of establishing 100 Sainik Schools in India.

The new Sainik schools to set up in a partnership process will be different from the already existing ones in the country.

This proposed plan and initiative by the central government aims to allow students to access quality education in association with National Education Policy.

The objectives also include providing the students with better career opportunities along with the required knowledge and training to join the armed forces.

The initiative also gave the best opportunity to the private sector of education to work hand-in-hand with the government in nation-building.

The government and private sector coming together aim for a better tomorrow by working on the youth of today so that they become responsible citizens in the future.

These upcoming Sainik Schools in India will work under the aegis of the Sainik School Society and follow the norms for new Sainik Schools in partnership mode directed by the society.

Among the 21 new Sainik Schools, 17 are Brownfield running schools and four are Greenfield schools to be operational within a short period of time.
