GUWAHATI: The absconding police officer named in the Ghograpar Police Station harassment case, Biman Roy, was taken into custody on Thursday at the Guwahati Railway Station. The police officer had been accused of taking lewd photos of a young girl who had been detained and was being held at the PS. On June 26, the incident had happened.

Biman Roy, the accused police officer, was reportedly discovered unconscious at the Guwahati Railway Station today. His treatment was started right away at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The cop has been on the run since the event, it should be noted. DGP GP Sing assured that if the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari is found guilty in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by a teenage girl, legal action will be taken against him. The incident first came to light on June 26 when a young girl complained to the police about a police officer, saying he had taken vulgar images of her and had humiliated her in front of other officers within the jail.

The primary suspect in the case filed under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act is Inspector Biman Roy, who formerly worked as the OC of Ghograpar Police Station.

On June 21, the victim girl is said to have allegedly eloped with her lover, but they were caught by the police and taken to Ghograpar PS. They were both kept that evening in the jail.

In response, a case has been filed against the police officer under section 354(b)/509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and R/W section 12/14(1) of the POCSO act, Nalbari police station case number 287/23.

Assam Police DGP GP Singh tweeted a photo of the accused Biman Roy and promised that if he was proven guilty in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the juvenile, lawful action will be taken against the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari.

Biman Roy, the alleged official, had already fled at that point. He was immediately suspended from his position.
