Assam: GMCH Installs 500 LPM Capacity Oxygen Plant

GUWAHATI: Keshab Mahanta, the state's minister of health and family welfare, dedicated an oxygen plant with a 500 LPM capacity to the people of Assam at the Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre, GMCH Guwahati.

In order to meet the hospital's significant demand for medical-grade oxygen, the PSA Oxygen Plant was created having the ability to produce, deliver, and store 93–95 percent pure medicinal oxygen. Oxygen will be provided by the plant to oxygenated beds, CCUs, ICUs, and OTs.

The 300-bed unit of the cardiology and neuroscience centre at GMCH is the unit that the plant is primarily designed to service. The plant has an annual production capacity of 2,02,500 litres, or 1800 oxygen cylinders, when run for 8 hours per day. A steady and dependable supply of oxygen will be made available at GMCH after the installation of the specialised oxygen plant, which is essential for saving the lives of hospital patients who are seriously ill.

Patients from Guwahati and other areas of the state have been receiving care at GMCH as a regional centre for COVID-19 patients. Installing the plant is a precaution due to the increased demand for medical treatment during the epidemic to guarantee that patients needing critical care have access to appropriate oxygen assistance.

Under the capable direction of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state administration is making every effort to improve the state's health care system.

In order to meet any unforeseen circumstances, the government is supplying state-run hospitals with cutting-edge critical equipment like oxygen plants. Its goal is to make healthcare accessible and affordable for every Assamese citizen.

‘I am pleased that businesses like Bayer support the efforts of the health department through their CSE initiatives. I hope more businesses will turn their attention to the country's northeast region’, minister Keshab Mahanta remarked.
