GUWAHATI: Another Assam Police official has been fired due to corruption allegations. On Sunday, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh tweeted about it. Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra, the officer who was fired, is a corrupt Sub-Inspector (SI). He was assigned to the Gohpur Police Station in Assam's Biswanath district.

According to DGP GP Singh, the cop was fired by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Biswanath district, and the Disciplinary Authority.

Notably, on December 8, last year, a team of local police from the Anti-Corruption Cell detained SI Dhiraj Namsudra at the Gohpur Police Station when he was collecting a money for granting relief to the complainant in a criminal case.

Taking on Tweeter GP Singh informed, “SI (UB) Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra, of Biswanath DEF, who was arrested by @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting bribe on 08/12/2022 at Gohpur in connection with ACB PS Case No- 56/2022 U/S- 120 (B) IPC R/W Sec 7 (a) of PC Act 1988(As amended in 2018) has been awarded the major punishment- “Dismissal from service” by the Superintendent of Police, Biswanath cum Disciplinary Authority.”

On the other hand, Joynal Ali, an ASI from Assam's Sualkuchi Police Station, was nabbed on Saturday while collecting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for granted bail. The event occurred when the police was caught red-handed in the act.

The quick action serves as a reminder of the continuous efforts to eradicate corruption in law enforcement. Ali will face legal action for his alleged misbehaviour.

On June 26, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption agents detained one Lat Mandal in Morigaon district on bribery charges.

Nabajyoti Nath, who works at Morigaon Revenue Circle, was recognised as the Lat Mandal. He was detained after being discovered in front of the Morigaon Circle Office taking money from the complainant for mutation processing.
