Assam Government constituted Mattock Autonomous Council

DIBRUGARH: A long-cherished dream of the Mattock community of the State has been fulfilled with the formation of Mattock Autonomous Council (MAC) by the State Government.

A 25-member MAC has been constituted with Saroj Gohain and Devid Chetia as president and chief executive respectively. The Assom Mattock Yuba Chatra Sanmmilan (AMYCS) has welcomed the government's step to constituted the MAC following approval of the Governor of the State, Prof. Jagadish Mukhi.

In a press conference held here on Wednesday, AMYCS thanked the Sarbananda Sonowal-led State Government for constituting the MAC and hoped that the State Government would consider their long-standing demand of scheduling of their community soon.
