TEZPUR: The Excise department of the Government of Assam is not issuing any license for retail IMFL 'OFF' shops, clarified Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulen Sarma in a press meet held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Friday.
Superintendent of Excise, Bedanga Bhushan Saikia said it had come to the notice of the government that certain fraudulent elements were collecting money from the public on the pretext of issuing IMFL 'OFF' retail shop license, which was completely false and baseless. The Excise department has not issued any such orders, he clarified.
ADC Kulen Sarma requested the media persons present to give wide publicity about the same in order to create awareness so that innocent people are not cheated. He also appealed to the people to bring any such cases to the notice of the Superintendent of Excise and if anyone is found guilty, appropriate legal action will be initiated against them.
