Assam Government Provides the Steps Taken in the APSC Scam through Affidavit to the Gauhati High Court

GUWAHATI: In response to the massive Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam, the Government of Assam has taken decisive action, submitting a detailed affidavit to the Gauhati High Court. The affidavit outlines the steps taken to address the irregularities in the recruitment process, with a particular focus on the CCE 2013-14 batch.

According to the submitted affidavit, a total of five officials who had secured their positions through unfair means have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. These arrests demonstrate the government's commitment to upholding the integrity of the recruitment process and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

Furthermore, in connection with the tainted batch, an additional 25 officials have been suspended pending further investigation. This suspension serves as a precautionary measure to ensure a fair and thorough examination of each individual's involvement in the recruitment scam.

The government's response also involves initiating departmental inquiries against 42 more officials associated with the CCE 2013-14 batch. This proactive approach aims to scrutinize the actions of a broader group and determine the extent of the irregularities within the recruitment process.

The affidavit emphasizes that these actions are based on the recommendations provided by the one-man Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma commission report. The commission's findings have played a crucial role in guiding the government's response to the APSC recruitment scandal, ensuring that the measures taken are fair, transparent, and in line with the principles of justice.

The scrutiny of officials from the CCE 2013-14 batch became necessary when it was revealed that a significant number of them had gained their positions through unfair means. The government's commitment to addressing these issues head-on and implementing the recommendations of the commission reflects its dedication to maintaining the credibility of the public service recruitment system.

The government's swift and comprehensive actions, including arrests, suspensions, and departmental inquiries, underscore its commitment to eradicating corruption and upholding the integrity of the recruitment process in Assam. The submission of the affidavit to the Gauhati High Court marks a significant step toward accountability and transparency in the face of the APSC recruitment scandal.
