BOKO: After the news against deforestation was published in The Sentinel, Singra and Bamunigaon Forest Range seized five trucks of wood logs and timber from Rajapara- Mojabaibari road in Chaygaon LAC under Kamrup west Division Forest office.
A forest team led by Singra Forest Ranger Abdur Rauf Ahmed reached the spot and seized 29 pieces of wood logs and 17 pieces of timber from the road side. Ranger Abdur Rauf Ahmed said that the market value of the seized logs was more than Rs 50,000. On the other hand, some smugglers again allegedly threatened villagers of Rajapara village after the forest department seized wood logs and timber.
MLA of Chaygaon LAC, Rekibuddin Ahmed spoke on this matter on Wednesday when he took part in a day-long sanitization programme. Ahmed said that the newly-formed State Government had already taken up the matter of deforestation seriously. The government would completely stop deforestation and sand smuggling in the South Kamrup area. He also added that the present government had started discussion on the matter with the respective department.
MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed visited Goroimari Primary Health Centre and reviewed the condition of the hospital and the facilities for COVID patients. He, along with the Goroimari circle officer, jointly sanitized the Goroimari PHC, Goroimari Market area, Jorsimuli Market area and the Jorsimuli health centre and many other public places with the help of Assam State Fire & Emergency Services team.
