GUWAHATI: During his visit to Sivasagar district on Tuesday, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria held a number of meetings with officials of the district administration, heads of different departments, security agencies, delegations from civic bodies at ONGC Assam Asset, Nazira.
The Assam Governor took stock on the status of implementation of different schemes of Central and State governments with the DC, SP, and other department heads in the district, during the meeting.
He also asked Aditya Vikram Yadav, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner, to supervise the progress of all the schemes and ensure that their benefits reach the people at the grassroots level.
The Governor was apprised by the heads of departments of the district about the level of implementation of different schemes, including those of PMKSY, PMFBY, paddy procurement etc.
On agriculture, the Governor said that besides traditional farming, the district authorities should help the farmers produce higher degree of yields through alternative modes of farming.
In the education sphere, the Governor inquired on the status of education in the tea garden areas and also asked about the school dropouts.
The implementation of PM Poshan schemes in schools was also noted by the Guv.
To provide clean water to the people, the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission also found place in the meeting, with the Governor asking to ensure total implementation of the project in the district by the district administration.
Governor Kataria also took stock of the health infrastructure and health care delivery system including capacity to provide emergency facilities.
The status of the blood bank infrastructure existing in the district was also inquired into.
The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, PMJAY-eKYC, Janani Suraksha Yojna, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Kaaryakram etc. were the schemes up for discussion during the gubernatorial visit.
Enquiring about the status of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana , Poshan Abhiyan, the work carried out under the department of Social Welfare was also inqwuired into by the Governor.
MGNREGA, Amrit Sarovar, PMAY-G were the other schemes he also took stock of.
Regarding the law and order situation of the district, Superintendent of Police, Subhrajyoti Bora, gave a detailed presentation.
The Governor took the opportunity to ask the SP to expeditiously dispose of all the pending cases.
The road safety measures taken up by the of police administration were also taken note by him.
Earlier, officials from ONGC apprised Assam Governor about the activities of ONGC in Assam.
The Governor inquired into the history of the oil and natural gas in Upper Assam.
As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Governor requested the ONGC that it should impart skill education to empower the youth in their chosen fields.
