Assam: Govt Employee Asked To Pay Fine For Carrying Beef In Karbi Anglong

Guwahati: A central government employee was asked to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for allegedly carrying beef with him in Karbi Anglong.

As per reports, the central government employee who is presently serving in Shillong was stopped on July 17 when he along with his nephew were en route to Shillong in his car.

Later, the employee named Khriesaneisa Rutsa's vehicle was intercepted by two police personnel at the Manja Police check gate in Karbi Anglong, Assam.

Upon frisking the vehicle, the two police personnel found 2kg of beef in his car following which they asked them to pay a fine of Rs 10, 000 as beef is banned in Assam.

The reports also claimed that the police personnel also threatened them of taking them to the police station if they fail to pay the fine.

Following this, Rutsa approach the Superintendent of Police of Karbi Anglong and filed a complaint regarding the same.

In his complaint, Rutsa alleged that the cops demanded Rs 2,000 from them.

Meanwhile, the SP of Karbi Anglong has been asked to initiate strict action against the two police personnel for allegedly extorting money from travellers.
