GUWAHATI: Ranoj Pegu, education minister of Assam, asserted on Tuesday that the government is accelerating the recruitment process in the state to fill up about 1 lakh vacancies.
The minister addressed a press meet and stated that this recruitment process will also recruit teachers with grace marks.
He added that despite a pending court case, obstacles will be removed. He also informed the press about the decision to recruit college teachers and those who have passed TET.
According to reports, the state will see major appointments being carried out again on September 23. About 4,717 teachers will receive appointment letters on this date.
The minister further added that 298 selected candidates of TET exam would receive appointments, as per a court order. He said, "As per the court order, 298 selected candidates of TET exam will get appointments and soon education department white paper will be published."
The education minister also expressed that the education department has experienced massive changes since 2011. Additionally, work towards infrastructure development is also being done.
Reportedly, advertisements for the teacher's post will be published soon.
Addressing the suspension of Victor Das, Ranoj Pegu said that Das has been suspended according to the rules.
The education minister mentioned that as per rules, a person who stays in police custody for 48 hours is subjected to be suspended. "Department investigation will be done against Victor Das," the minister further added.
The Office of the District Elementary Education, Kamrup, stated in a notification that Victor Das has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, after the report of the Head Teacher of Panitema Radha Krishna Jugal Milan L.P. School, was taken into consideration.
Assam Police arrested Victor Das on September 9 on charges of allegedly spreading rumours about a 'scam' in the ongoing recruitment process to recruit candidates for over 26,000 vacant posts in different departments. However, the Gauhati High Court granted Das interim bail till September 29.
