GUWAHATI: More Sainik schools will be opened by the Assam government, as informed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.
To create a dynamic environment for luring the greatest talent into our Armed Forces, CM Sarma met with the education minister, Ranoj Pegu, and other officials and resolved to open more Sainik Schools in the state.
Taking to twitter, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “To facilitate a vibrant ecosystem for attracting the best talent into our Armed Forces, we’ve decided to open more Sainik Schools in Assam.”
He also covered the following topics during the discussion with the education department:
The opening of Adarsh Vidyalayas.
Creating more teaching positions and B.Ed. colleges.
Six communities are given a special quota at professional colleges. Ranoj Pegu added to a process that had already been started in August 2022 when he declared that at least five Sainik Schools would be opened in Assam under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking to the media, the minister stated, "There are 33 Sainik Schools in India overall. The PPP model for Sainik Schools is being planned by the Union Ministry of Defence. We have chosen to establish five Sainik schools in our state as a result of this.”
He continued, "Up to this point, land has been allocated for the construction of the schools, and other formalities are in progress." There were planned to be five locations for the schools: Silchar, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, and Dhemaji.
Sainik College India's Goalpara, Assam, was founded on November 12, 1964, by the Sainik Schools Society in New Delhi, which is part of the Ministry of Defense (India). In 1961, V.K. Menon, the country's defence minister at the time, proposed the idea of Sainik schools. The school was initially founded in Goalpara, which serves as the district's administrative centre. The school was thereafter relocated to Rajapara Village in Mornai in the Goalpara District, where it is now. 18 Sainik schools were initially established.
