In a bid to develop the Sattras and Namghars, Assam Government has offered aid to 20 Naamghars of Sarbhog LAC of Barpeta district in a program on Sunday at Barpeta Road Sahitya Sabha Bhawan. The program was attended by State BJP President Ranjeet Dass. The State government has provided a grant of Rs.2.50 lakhs to each of the 20 Namghars.

Ranjeet Dass tweeted saying, ''the Government of Assam has provided a grant of Rs.2.50 Lakhs to the 20 Namghars for their development. In future, such financial assistance will be provided to each Namghars in Sorbhog area''

He further said, '' under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the state government has time to time undertaken various development schemes to enhance every Namghars of the State.''

Earlier on Saturday, at an event in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the teachings of Gurujona Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev have empowered the people to overcome hurdles and challenges and establish the supremacy of spiritualism and has played a great role in strengthening the foundation of a strong Assam.

He also said that the Assam government is committed to strengthen, secure, and safeguard the namghars and sattras, as it has lent a strong identity to the people of Assam before the world.

He also said that his government has been taking steps for granting financial assistance for the namghars and sattras to enable them to play their roles for enriching the socio-cultural and spiritual activities of the people.

Further, the government will undertake proactive measures to transform Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya following the ideals and philosophy of Gurujona into a world-class university.
