GUWAHATI: Sending hope to the unemployed youths, the Assam government has, reportedly, started a mega recruitment process.

The government announced that it would recruit over 52 thousand posts in the current year. The posts are lying vacant in the three major departments namely Education, Home and Health, and Family Welfare.

Informing about the development State Finance Minster Ajanta Neog said that the state cabinet has already nodded the recruitment process.

According to her, the government will start filling up these vacant posts from September this year.

"Out of 1 lakh, we promised to give recruitments, we will start recruitment for 52, 500 posts from September 2021. We will fulfill our promise," she added.

Health Minister Keshab Mahanta also said that the state government would start the recruitment process soon. "Out of the total 52, 500 posts, 22000 are of the Education department. The Health Department would recruit 8,500 posts. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics would be recruited in these posts. The Education Department would give employment to 22000 youths. The home department also recruits 22000", he added.

Earlier, the Assam BJP-led government said that it will also provide financial assistance to over 6 thousand unemployed youths to buy commercial passenger vehicles.

Addressing a press meet, the State Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika said that the government would provide financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh as a subsidy to 6, 600 youths to buy commercial vehicles so that they can find an income avenue and become self-reliant.

The decision was taken in a state Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the Minister added.

He also said, "We will provide a subsidy of Rs. 1 lakh to 6, 600 unemployed youths who buy commercial passenger vehicles. Also, we will arrange free driving training for them. The training period will be of 45 days. After completion of the training, the youths will be given driving licenses."
