GUWAHATI: As the covid situation shows improvement on Sunday 13 February Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that all the restrictions imposed by the government in view of COVID-19 spread will be now withdrawn from Tuesday, 15 February.
In this regard, a Standard Operating procedure (SOP) will be soon released by the state government. It is informed that the SOPs will be issued today i.e. on 14 February.
The restrictions that will be withdrawn also include curbs in travelling sector like the mandatory covid test in airports and railways.
Night curfew will be withdrawn along with the mandatory covid testing process in hospitals. The restriction will also be removed from social religious gatherings as informed by CM Sarma.
In a recent tweet by the chief minister, he stated that the government of Assam will remove all covid restrictions in airports, railways and hospitals which will be effective from 15 February onwards.
He stated that the detailed notification about the curb withdrawal will be available on Monday 14 February.
The decision came after the state has witnessed a steady decline in regular COVID-19 positive cases.
On Saturday 12 February, the state has seen a great dip in new COVID-19 cases as according to the bulletin released by NHM (National Health Mission), Assam had reported 172 fresh positive cases which is 95 less than the covid cases tally on Friday 11 February.
The 172 cases as of Saturday pushed the total number to 7,23,416. However, on Sunday 13 February as per reports Assam had 79 fresh cases and the death tally decreased to 4. Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the state stood at 98.56 percent and the percentage of positivity is 0.83 percent.
It may be mentioned that the entire country is experiencing a decline in the number of covid positive cases.
As per the Union Health Ministry data on Sunday, the daily fresh covid cases in India dipped less than 50,000 pushing the tally to 4,26,31,421.
