Assam: Guwahati Crime Branch Arrests 3 High-Profile Gamblers In IPL Betting Racket Case

Guwahati: On Monday, three high-profile gamblers were arrested by the crime branch of Guwahati police for their alleged involvement in an IPL betting racket case.

The three accused were arrested after the crime branch launched an operation under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Numal Mahato, after receiving a tip-off from few sources.

The names of the gamblers who were arrested by the crime branch are Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain.

According to the police, more such betting rackets are yet to be busted by them.

Additionally, several gambling dens were busted by the crime branch of Assam police after a raid was conducted in different locations of the Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati.

In other news, the Assam police had busted a sex racket after conducting a raid in Dibrugarh earlier this month. Four people were arrested in connection to the case.

The police also rescued four girls from the site of the incident. 

The four persons who had been arrested in connection to the case have been identified as babu Ali, Nazim Ahmed, Farida Begum and Hemanta Gogoi.

As per police reports, Farida Begum is the mother of Nazim Ahmed. The mother-son duo had been running the sex trade from a rented accommodation which they owned.
