NAGAON: State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Saturday visited Nagaon Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital to review the COVID arrangements in the hospital. Mahanta took stock of the preparation and progress of construction of the latest facilities for ongoing COVID-19 treatment.

MLAs Rupak Sarmah and Jitu Goswami along with Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan, Superintendent of Police Gurav Abhijit Dilip, Joint Director of Health Services and other district-level officials accompanied the health minister.

Later, Mahanta held a meeting with the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner (DC), Superintendent of Police (SP), Joint Director of Health Services and other district-level officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioners, Circle Officers, Public Health Department and Assam Public Works Department representatives, among others to discuss the COVID-19 containment measures in the district.

Taking stock of the COVID-19 situation of the district, the minister focused on the proper functioning of COVID Care Centres, proper transportation of COVID-19 positive patients, sanitization drives, facilitation of hassle-free cremation, proper audit of COVID related death, stricter adherence to COVID-9 SoP protocols issued from time to time by the State Government, among many other pertinent topics. The minister called for cooperation between the public and the administration for combating the pandemic.
