GUWAHATI: National Helicopter carrier, PSU Pawan Hans Ltd has decided to launch helicopter services in six routes of Assam. The chopper services will be launched by the PSU, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. 

These helicopters will connect four cities of the state, making movement a lot more easier. The PSU Pawan Hans Ltd will flag off this new initiative on 8th of February, Wednesday. The prime goal behind this new innovation is to enhance the trade and tourism sector of Assam. 

As per officials, the choppers are designed to connect the Dibrugarh-Jorhat-Tezpur-Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Dibrugarh network as a starter. The official release mentions that, engagement in the mentioned routes will enable the public of the region to travel with ease and comfort, offering a boost to tourism department of Assam. 

As per sources, the chopper service will soon be released in Arunachal Pradesh. It is worth mentioning here that, Pawan Hans Ltd has been recognised and awarded 86 routes under Regional Connectivity Scheme in six different states. This particular launch, to be held on Wednesday will be considered as its first phase.

The scheme will provide a way for air connectivity to remote regions of the NE states, which lacks proper road connectivity and insufficient rail services. 

Recently, Jayanta Mallabaruah, the Tourism minister of Assam, announced that special pilgrimage ferry services will be launched in the capital city soon. The service will provide the pilgrims to enjoy a journey that will cover main temples on the both sides of the banks of Brahmaputra. 

The decision to bring forth the pilgrimage ferry was decided in the Assam Cabinet among various other issues. The cabinet took place at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, chaired by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Jayanta Mallabaruah stated that, the special ferry will be provided under the Centre's Sagar Mala Project. He further mentioned about the impact of this particular step in the tourism sector of the state.

It will act as a boost to the tourism department of Assam. The ferry will move from Kamakhya temple to Ashwaklanta temple. It will take a turn and head towards the Umananda temple. The final stoppage of the ferry will be the Doul Govinda Mandir located in North Guwahati.
