Assam: Heroin worth Rs 4 crore seized in Karbi Anglong; 2 arrested

BOKAJAN: In its continued war against narcotic drugs, police in the Karbi Anglong district recovered 726.05 gms of heroin from a Golaghat-bound car at Khakrajan under Barpathar police station on Thursday. “Based on specific inputs, a naka checkpoint was set up at Khakrajan and a car bearing registration number AS 13F 5257 was intercepted. During the search, 60 soap boxes were recovered from the front side of the car,” said a police official.

“The consignment weighing 726.05 gm is suspected to be heroin. We sent it for a forensic test,” he said. Meanwhile, two persons identified as Sajit Khan and Iqbal Ahmed were arrested in this connection. Both are residents of Manipur. The consignment was brought from Dimapur and was supposed to be delivered in a place in Golaghat town. The approximate value of the seized drugs is reported to be over Rs 4 crore in the black market.
