New Delhi: After Maharashtra and Karnataka, the demand for banning loudspeakers during Ajan has started rising from Assam too as a right-wing body in state has joined the row.
Assam's Right wing group Kutumb Suraksha Mission has demanded a ban on loudspeakers saying, ''loudspeakers were never a part of Islam.''
Satyarajan Bora, president of the Kutumb Suraksha Mission, has demanded removal of loudspeakers from all mosques and warned that he will take the matter into his own hands if the demands of his organization are not met.
In an interview with Times Now, Bora said that if loudspeakers are not removed from mosques in the coming days, they will start blocking roads in Assam.
Significantly, the Karnataka High Court had earlier ordered removal of loudspeakers from all religious places.
"This is a high court order. It's not forced. Everything has to be done by talking and explaining to people. It is not only for azaan, it is for all loudspeakers. So, we will take a call," commenting on the High Court's order Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bomai had said.
On the other hand, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has also demanded the removal of loudspeakers from the mosque, saying that if the loudspeakers are not removed, then they will play Hanuman Chalisa.
''If the loudspeakers are not removed from the mosque, then our workers will play Hanuman Chalisa and bhajans on the loudspeakers at that time,'' earlier Thackeray had said.
On this matter, Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa said that this matter can be resolved by taking the Muslim community into confidence.
''There is no competition going on to play Hanuman Chalisa in loud voice to counter them. I have no problem with the prayers of Muslims. But if loud speakers start playing in temples and churches like in mosques, then there can be a reason for tension between the two communities,'' he added.
