GUWAHATI: A massive quake hit Assam and adjoining areas on Wednesday morning. According to the Met department, the earthquake measured 6.4 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was Sonitpur.
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi speaking to Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonwal he said, "Spoke to Assam CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal Ji regarding the earthquake in parts of the state. Assured all possible help from the Centre. I pray for the well-being of the people of Assam."
Notably, Assam felt another jolt at 10:05 AM, epicentre was Nagaon. It measured 3.2 on the Richter scale.
According to reports, the earthquake claimed the life of a 70-year-old man in Chandrapur in the outskirts of Guwahati.
As per reports, when his family members were running outside the house during the earthquake, the septuagenarian had a massive cardiac arrest and he collapsed before he could get out.
