NAGAON: Based on a secret tip off, the special operation team of Nagaon police led by Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Supratibhlal Boruah, conducted a massive raid at the residence of one Amir Hussain at Nabin Nagar near Dhing Gate in the town on Tuesday evening.
During the raid, police seized 1,531 Codeine-based 100ml syrup bottles and 39,252 nitrozapam tablets from the house. Sources claimed that the worth of the seized syrup bottles as well as other tablets would be more than Rs 2.5 crore in the market. Police immediately arrested three persons, including a woman, in this regard. The arrested persons have been identified as Amir Hussain, Afraz Hussain and Anowara Begum and further investigation is on, sources said, adding that the arrested Amir Hussain is a medical representative and working at a multinational company here.
On the other hand, one Jiabur Rahman, a dreaded dacoit of the district, was nabbed by Rupahihat police on Wednesday near the Singimari area under Rupahihat PS. Police seized a .3 pistol and 8 rounds live bullets from his possession, sources said, adding that the arrested Jiabur was on his way to rob someone else in the Singimari area. But his bid was foiled by Rupahihat police. A case has been registered in this regard at Rupahihat PS and further investigation is on, sources added here.
