Assam: Interactive programme at Auniati University

TINSUKIA: “Spirituality attributes a key element in developing man-making education outlined by a set of human values on the line of which Auniati University will be shaped,” said Dr Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami, Chancellor of the newly-established private university in Assam in a public interaction programme at Tinsukia on Sunday. The programme was arranged as a part of state-wide campaign on promotion and propagation of objectives and working modules of Auniati University.

Referring to prevalent disloyalty and social degradation in present context, Sri Sri Dev Goswami stated that promotion of traditional system of values and spiritual ethos among next generation youths can lead to harmonious development of society making and house making. Regretting that the indigenous arts and crafts were not given proper recognition in the past, Dr Dev Goswami informed that the University would open Centre for Performing Arts which would encompass nearly about a lakh unrecognised artisans across the State within the ambit of the Centre. The University would also thrust on physical education and mass communication apart from curriculum-based general teaching, learning and research in different subjects, he further opined that the people of Tinsukia if desired so can open a branch of the University with public support.

A host of people from Tinsukia and neighbouring districts attended the programme and exchanged views with the Xatradhikar. Prasanta Dutta principal secretary of the Auniati University outlined the genesis and the background of establishing such university. The convenors of the programme were Atul Chandra Sarma, Badan Sarma, Dimbeswar Konwar, Dulal Mahanta, Rajarshi Gogoi, Anil Bora, Pradip Saikia, Tripti Das and Nilmoni Sarma. Badan Sarma one of the convenors also spoke on the occasion while the programme was moderated by Atul Chandra Sarma.
