NAGAON: International Day of Democracy was observed at Nowgong Girls’ College on Friday. On occasion of the celebration, a special lecture on ‘Democracy: Changing Time and Context’ was organized by the Department of Political Science.
Dr Kulen Chandra Das, principal of the college, inaugurated the event while Dr Monoj Kumar Nath, principal, Rupahi College, delivered the keynote on the issue. He explained various aspects of democracy and pointed out the need for democracy in the present context. He called upon all concerned to imbibe democratic values and spirit which is essential for responsible citizenship. The youth of India can play a major role in the democratic functioning of the institutions, he added.
Meanwhile, an interactive session also took place. Ranjit Barua, assistant professor, offered vote of thanks while Sankar Jyoti Bora anchored the entire programme.
