GUWAHATI: According to reports that surfaced on Monday, three Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme employees were hurt, and at least one died after being electrocuted in Assam's Sivasagar district.

Sources claim that the event happened at Lakwa while JJM's personnel were repairing a water tank. The deceased Deep Dihingia, was a resident of Lepetkata. 

The other injured individuals has been identified as Dilip Chutia, Bakul Rabha, and Padma Chutia, who were admitted to the Brahmaputra Nursing Center in Moran. The deceased's family filed a complaint at the Moran Police Department. 

A guy was electrocuted at Mukalmua in the Nalbari area last month, resulting in his death, and another man was seriously burned. Information indicates that the event took place while the two were putting in a hand pump in their neighbourhood at No. 3 Barbala area. 

A 16-year-old worker engaged in the six-lane construction site at Basistha Chariali died due to electrocution on December, 2022.

The deceased was identified as Kuraban Ali of Goalpara. A contractor identified as Ramzan Ali bought the victim to Guwahati to work on the construction of the flyover at Basistha Chariali.

Meanwhile, the Basistha police has arrested contractor Ramzan Ali on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased youth. 

Two construction workers perished owing to a mud slip at the Ropeway construction site in west Sikkim, while another worker perished at a construction site due to a falling boulder in Syari, close to Gangtok, just two days prior to the episode.

The incident was discovered when a dead body was transported to Manipal Hospital Tadong following a call book alert. The dead has been identified as Basant Tamang, a resident of Syari, Gangtok, who is 45 years old. Following further investigation, it was discovered that on January 3, around 8 AM, the deceased was working alongside his coworkers Suresh Tamang, Aitey Maya Tamang, and Kavita for evacuation work, specifically to cut and fill soils at a construction site owned by one Krishna Kumar Pradhan in Zimpong Gaon, Middle Syari, Gangtok, Sikkim.

The deceased was allegedly trying to remove a boulder while working beneath it. He suffered a serious head injury when the same boulder suddenly collapsed on top of him. After being evacuated, he was sent to CRH, Manipal, where the on-duty MO pronounced him dead.
