Assam: Jayanta Mallabaruah Takes Part in JJM Conclave in Goalpara

GOALPARA: The Jal Jeevan Mission is a landmark project by the government to provide drinking water connections to every household. As a part of the same project, the fourth Jal Jeevan Mission Conclave was organised in D N Sinha Stadium in the Goalpara District of Assam on Thursday.

The previous three conclaves of the Jal Jeevan Mission were organised in the Nalbari, Lakhimpur and Jorhat districts of the state. These meetings were organised to take stock of the work done towards achieving 100% coverage of water supply lines to each and every household in the state.

Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah attended this conclave on Thursday. Expressing his happiness regarding the work done in this sector, the minister said that once this project is completely implemented, there will be no more problems regarding the availability of clean drinking water in the state. He also inaugurated a total of 85 rural water supply projects in the region which is expected to benefit a total of 13683 families.

He also released an application named ‘JJM Contrator’ to keep track of the development of the project. Several people who had performed their duties well with regard to the project were felicitated by the minister during the event.

The event was attended by the residents of several villages, members of the water consumer committees, Jal Mitras, Jal Doots, gaon panchayat members, representatives of educational institutions and prominent citizens of the region.

Previously, a review meeting on the implementation of the current status of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Sivasagar district was held at Sivasagar Yuvadal. The meeting was chaired by PHED, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah in the presence of Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission & Swachh Bharat Mission (G), Assam Kailash Karthik, Sivasagar District Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav with the officials of PHED, Sivasagar and department contractors.
