GUWAHATI: In a coordinated operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police in Assam carried out a series of raids in Cachar, yielding substantial results in the fight against drug trafficking.

During these operations, an astounding 43,000 Yaba tablets were confiscated, and five alleged traffickers were apprehended in possession of the contraband.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Mujibur Rahman, Shaharul Rahman, Jabir Hussain, Rizul Ahmed, and Sahin Ahmed Borbhuyan.

Furthermore, authorities seized a Swift Dzire vehicle with registration number ED AS-10-D-4788 and a scooty bearing registration number ED AS-11-S-2703. The estimated market value of the seized Yaba tablets is approximately Rs 8 crore.

In a separate operation conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) near Guwahati city, law enforcement officers seized 87.7 grams of heroin. Six individuals were detained in connection with this incident.

The detainees have been identified as Vinod Medhi, Marshall Chuting, Raj Thapa, Vicky Lyngdoh, Donbok, and Sahara Begum, and they have been handed over to the Sonapur police.

This successful crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for the local community.

In another significant operation carried out by the Guwahati Police, a substantial quantity of drugs was confiscated at Garchuk, marking a major bust in the ongoing battle against narcotics.

According to official reports, law enforcement agencies successfully apprehended a notable consignment of heroin during their recent anti-narcotics mission. The operation's outcome was particularly remarkable, with law enforcement discovering a total of 29 containers brimming with illicit narcotics. This success is a testament to the dedication and vigilance of the authorities in combatting the ever-growing menace of drug trafficking.

In an earlier development on the same day, the Guwahati police arrested a mother-daughter duo, allegedly deeply engaged in drug peddling within the city. The pair was taken into custody by concerned locals in the vicinity of Navagraha Natun Nagar near Silpukhuri and subsequently handed over to the police. A thorough search of their rented residence led to the discovery of numerous vials containing illicit substances, further solidifying the allegations against them.
