JAMUGURIHAT: The 20th edition of Karam Puja organized by Borpam Tiniali Karam Puja Celebration Committee was held on Monday at Borpam on the northern part of Sootea. The puja was celebrated as per the traditions of the community in the evening. A series of cultural events were performed with enthusiasm by the local artists. The event was attended by Jagananda Kurmi, Arun Bordoloi, Sanatan Kurmi, Nanigopal Karmakar, Deben Pator, Ramesh Bhumij among others. The event was inaugurated with Jhumur performed by the Jhumur team of Ghiladhari T.E. Papu Bhumij, president and Rahul Kurmi and Pranjal Kurmi, joint secretaries thanked all concerned for their invaluable support and cooperation. It is to be mentioned here that Karam Puja is a traditional festival of the tea tribes community which has been celebrated in the Indian calendar month of Bhada.
